There were violent scenes
in central Paris as thousands of anti-government protesters took to the streets.
Riot police in the French capital used tear gas and carried out baton charges around the famous Opera district during the fifth Saturday of protests.
By noon more than 60 protesters were in custody. Most protestors were so-called Yellow Vest fuel-price demonstrators.
Despite a range of concessions from Emmanuel Macron, including scrapping green taxes on diesel and petrol, demonstrators have continued to call for the President’s resignation.
