Travel writer Moore’s niche is arduous journeys.

This time, he drives 6,000 miles across the US touring republican states to try to get his head around why rural voters backed Trump.

We felt he could have had more interactio­n with them, but overall his book is a good read.

OUR VERDICT 8/10 The Boy Who Followed His Father Into Auschwitz Jeremy Dronfield, Michael Joseph, £12.99

In 1939 Gustav Kleinman, a Jewish upholstere­r in Vienna, was held in a concentrat­ion camp with his teenage son Fritz.

This story, based on his diary, charts their love for one another and how it kept them alive.

The foreword is by Fritz’s brother Kurt, the only surviving member of the family.

OUR VERDICT 9/10 Never Grow Up Jackie Chan, Simon & Schuster, £20

Young-at-heart Chan will have you grinning from ear-to-ear with this chirpy offering which looks at his half-century in the movie industry.

In that time he has made more than 200 films, breaking a lot of bones along the way.

From Hong Kong to Hollywood, he gives a good account of his journey and even lets us into his family life.

Entertaini­ng.
