A Japanese billionaire’s tweet has become the most shared post on Twitter after receiving 5.5 million retweets on the social media site.

Posted on January 5, Yusaku Maezawa promised to share £725,000 between 100 random users who followed and retweeted his offer.

The previous record holder was Carter Wilkinson, whose plead for free chicken nuggets gathered more than 3.5 million shares in 2017.
