There’s plenty of fish in the sea

-

A 15-year-old Aberdeenshire boy found a girlfriend, thanks to a bottle of salad cream.

Patrick Foubister of Tyron Hill Farm, near Fraserburgh, was travelling back from Orkney with his parents after their summer holidays.

In the Pentland Firth, Patrick threw bottles containing messages into the sea.

Six months later, he recieved a letter from 20-year-old Ellen Inger Solli of Kristiansund, Norway. She said Patrick’s salad cream bottle had been passed to her and she decided to reply.

Ellen said she had dark hair and blue eyes. Patrick planned to write to Ellen, but his two brothers, aged 17 and 18, were also showing an interest in the Norwegian girl.
