Hoops told that defender is going nowhere

Olympiacos boss Pedro Martins has told Celtic to forget about signing his defender Omar Elabdellaoui.

The Hoops are interested in the Norwegian international full back and are weighing up a £4 million bid for the 27-year-old.

However, the Greek club value him at double that and have insisted they aren’t interested in selling Elabdellaoui, who has been at the club for almost five years.

And manager Martins has warned off the Scottish champions.

He said: “We are focused on our goals of winning the title again and we won’t risk that by selling any players.

“To achieve our goals this season, we need a quality squad, so none of our first team players will be sold this month.”

Dundee were last night anxiously awaiting news on Andrew Davies’ fitness after he was carried off in a bounce game against St Johnstone.

It is understood the Dee signing left the field suffering from a suspected broken foot in what was his first taste of match action since signing from Hartlepool United.

The 34-year-old penned an 18-month deal at Dens Park on Thursday and has been tasked with shoring up the Dark Blues’ defence ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.

Should his injury turn out to be as serious as feared, his absence is likely to stretch into months rather than weeks.

That could impact on gaffer Jim McIntyre’s transfer window plans, with a potential move to Partick Thistle for Darren O’Dea likely to be shelved.

Southampton are trying to hijack Motherwell’s superkid Stuart McKinstry’s £400,000 move to Leeds United this month after mounting a late bid.

The Yorkshire club invited the 16-yearold winger down to their training complex and looked set to seal a deal that could eventually land Motherwell a bumper windfall, which includes addons and a selling-on fee.

However, Southampton have also agreed a fee with Well and are trying to persuade McKinstry to sign for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s outfit.

McKinstry – son of ex-Motherwell player John – is rated highly and has had clubs watching him after impressing for their youth side.
