Play-Doh was invented by accident.
In the 1930s, Noah McVicker made a substance out of flour, water, salt, boric acid and mineral oil, which he marketed as a wallpaper cleaner.
However, in 1955, Noah’s nephew, Joseph, heard it was being used for arts and crafts in schools, so he named it Play-Doh.
