The Real Housewife and her Thailand fling

- with Hanna Miraftab By Bill Gibb

Hanna Miraftab is the latest recruit to The Real Housewives of Cheshire.

The popular series returns on Monday March 25 at 10pm on ITVBe.

Glamorous Hanna runs a successful dental practice and lives in Bowdon in leafy Cheshire with her fiancé Dr Martin Kinsella whom she’s set to marry this year.

WE did a lot of camping holidays when I was younger.

My dad loved putting up a tent and having the whole family gather together.

We had our share of nice foreign holidays but we often visited the Lake District and, when I look back, those holidays stand out the most.

I know the area has a lot of rain, but in my memories it was always sunny. We’d go with other families and we’d go on bike rides, do canoeing and all sorts of outdoors stuff.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled a lot since and south-east Asia is somewhere that really made a big impression.

I love Thailand, especially some of the islands like Ko Tao and Ko Samui.

The rawness of the country really appeals to me. It is a hot tourist destination, but it’s quite easy to get off the beaten track.

Mixing with the locals, eating the food they enjoy and experiencing their culture is a big thing for me.

It’s very easy to book a five-star resort and sit in an all-inclusive hotel and have the sense you could be anywhere.

I like the feeling that you are part of the country you are visiting and the only way to achieve that is get out and about while you are there.

Coming from an Iranian heritage where food is a big thing in our culture, I always look forward to trying new things.

I’m very open to getting into the local cuisine.

Having said that, the one luxury destination I’ll never forget is the Maldives.

We splashed out and stayed in a stunning six-star resort last November. Because we both have busy lives, it was lovely to unwind.

The service was amazing. You only had to say once that you didn’t want ice in your orange juice and you were never given ice again.

The resort was designed in such a clever way that you always felt you were the only couple on the island.

You’d always find two sun loungers together in a corner and not another soul in sight.
