Swoosh! Raw Deal quick to resolve runner’s trainer troubles

-

Keen runner Rab Duffy was left chasing his tail after ordering a pair of trainers that never turned up.

Rab, from Musselburgh, East Lothian, has been doing marathons for more than a decade. During that time, he has only bought Nike shoes.

“Due to my training regime I regularly require to replace my running shoes, and Nike are my favourites,” he said.

In January, Rab drove to the Nike Factory Store at Loanhead, Edinburgh, to buy a pair of React trainers, for about £90.

The shoes were not in stock but a sales clerk ordered them for him. Rab paid by credit card and arranged to pick them up at a Nike store in Glasgow the following week.

However, a few days later he received an email from Nike saying the shoes were no longer available and that he would get a full refund.

Three weeks later, Rab was still no further forward and numerous phone calls to Nike to ask about getting his £90 back fell on deaf ears.

“Nike even asked me to provide them with bank statements to prove I hadn’t already received the refund,” he said. “My bank confirmed no money had been received and it was instead up to Nike to prove that they had issued the money.

“The catalogue of errors and misinformation from Nike that then occurred left me deeply disappointed, frustrated and angry.”

Rab wrote to Raw Deal and we asked Nike to investigate. Rab has now been issued with a full refund and he has also been given a voucher that will give him 15% off his next purchase.

“I can’t thank Raw Deal enough for your help,” Rab said. “But I am now considering changing my brand of running shoe after being a loyal Nike customer for years.”
