Same again – but with Pool scoring one more than City

-

Many people are saying it’s a “must-win” game for Liverpool against Manchester City this afternoon.

Listen, every time Jurgen Klopp and his players take to the field there is pressure on them to get three points.

That’s the way it has been, and always will be. The demands are huge but that’s what being part of a massive football club is all about.

There is no doubt that the games between both sides have been decisive in the past couple of seasons.

At the moment, we trail City by seven points and have played a game more.

With only 16 games remaining, the importance of trying to get three points today is obvious.

Liverpool would also need to rely on other teams taking points off Pep

Guardiola’s men, and that’s never an ideal scenario.

It’s always better to have your destiny in your own hands.

But it’s all about the next game and doing what you can. There is no point in looking too far ahead.

Liverpool looked as though they’d found their rhythm and form again after back-toback wins away from home at Tottenham and West Ham.

However, that was followed up with a 1-0 home defeat to Brighton. It was unexpected, but credit has to go to Graham Potter and his players.

I have always believed the Seagulls are better than what their league position suggests, and I don’t regard them as a bottom-six side.

They are entertaining, and try to attack the opposition with their passing game.

Today’s match with City will also be open, and both teams will be going for it, I’m sure.

When they met earlier in the season at the Etihad, it finished 1-1 and the first 45 minutes of football was absolutely breathtaking. It was a pleasure and a privilege to witness it.

The same again would be nice – but Liverpool scoring one more goal than City would just top it all off.
