How to make those dreaded dry hair days a thing of the past

- As told to Tracey Bryce

Are you wondering how to deal with dry hair while the cold snap continues? Don’t worry...help is at hand. Frey Necole, founder of human hair wig specialists Zee Elle, has you covered.

She has revealed her top five tricks and tips to give you healthy, shiny and bouncy hair, even on the coldest of days.

Less washing, more dry shampoo

One of the most important ways to keep the oils in your hair locked in is to avoid washing it too frequently. If you can, reduce hair washing to 2-3 times a week.

As we are all pretty much inside at home the majority of the time, this shouldn’t be too hard.Try using a dry shampoo. This will give volume and add extra life to your hairstyle without over-washing.

Try a hair mask and hot hair steaming cap

This is the best winter hair care secret. The harsh, cold elements of winter remove the moisture from your hair.

Using a hot hair steaming cap with a good hair mask will improve moisture levels in your hair, leaving your with soft, silky locks. For best results, we recommend hair steaming at least once or twice a month.

Give your hair a break by using wigs

Being able to give your hair a break from time to time is really important. With washing, heat and general wear and tear of brushing each day, sometimes it’s time to just take a break and try something new.

Wigs are a must-have during winter as they help protect your natural hair from damage. This will also help minimize the use of styling tools on your hair, which we all know means heat – and heat means damage!

Wigs can come in so many forms, so it is worth doing your research and seeing what works for you.We supply a range of wigs from synthetic to human hair in a variety of styles and shades to suit every taste.

Yes, silk!

A trick used by celebrities like Kim Kardashian, swapping your cotton pillows for silk is a huge help for your hair. Silk is a natural hypoallergenic and can help stimulate hair hydration, minimising thin ends and hair knots.

Want to blow dry your hair? Think again

It’s tempting, we know.Your hair is wet, and you need it to dry fast.

Picking up a hairdryer in winter seems the sensible thing but blow-drying will dry out hair and make it brittle.

Instead, try to allow your hair dry naturally. This minimises the amount of heat you are exposing your hair to.
