Study: Were our ancestors psychic?
Our ancestors may have been hardwired with sixth sense and it’s modern life that is robbing us of our psychic genes, according to a study.
Researchers compared the DNA of a dozen women who claimed to have “the gift” against nine carefully matched in characteristics other than they had no family history of special abilities.
The team discovered one significant difference around a gene found in the brain.
Crucially, it was the psychics who had the original “wild-type” version – while most of the non-clairvoyants had an extremely rare and more recent mutation.
This finding suggests that early human beings may have possessed a degree of psychic ability.
The study, published by the journal Explore ahead of peer review, calls for larger studies but adds:
“If validated, these preliminary data would be highly provocative.”
The team was led by Dr Helané Wahbeh, research director at the Institute of Noetic Sciences in California, and Scottish intelligence expert Dr Michael Woodley of Menie.
They tested participants’ abilities in a series of trials where they had to second-guess a computer that picked cards and places at random.
