Skipper dies in fishing tragedy

“Two young Danish fishermen are in Lerwick Hospital, Shetland, suffering from exposure after four days on a life raft,” reported The Post.

“The skipper was in the engine-room when their boat sank on Monday. The two crewmen could not save him. There were emergency rations in the life raft, but the automatic pump broke down. The two had to bail constantly, while sitting in about six inches of water.”
