A late header from Tom McAdam gave Celtic a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle which took them to within two points of the Premier Division title.

Rangers beat Dundee United 2-1 after going behind to a goal from Ralph Milne (above).

Bobby Russell equalised and Ian Redford scored the winner with a penalty kick.

Mark McGhee, Doug Rougvie and Neil Simpson were on target as Aberdeen beat Morton 3-1.

John Hughes (above) scored twice as Celtic beat Airdrie 4-0 in front of 74,000 fans in the Scottish Cup semifinal at Hampden Park.

Davy Johnston scored on his first-team debut for Hearts as they drew 1-1 with Raith Rovers.

Cliff Jones hit a hat-trick as leaders Spurs thumped Preston North End 5-0.
