After we shivered through one of the coldest Easters in memory, this story from The Post makes hard reading.

“Britain sweltered yesterday in the hottest Easter of the century. The heatwave caused cases of sunstroke and fainting. British Railways reported an epidemic of buckled rails in the south.

“In Dundee, shopkeeper­s reported they were selling twice as much ice-cream as they usually did in April.”
