Puppy stolen by armed raiders found after social media tip-off

-

A nine-week-old puppy stolen from a house in Glasgow by masked men armed with knives has been reunited with its owners.

Police said on Wednesday evening three men wearing black balaclavas broke into a house in the city’s Pollok area.

They burst into David Waters and Caitlin Maley’s home and snatched Cairo, an American Bulldog.

The dog was discovered on Friday evening by the side of a road in the Shettleston area after a tip-off on a social media site. Waters, 20, said: “We’re just delighted to get Cairo back, it’s been a crazy few days.”

Dog thefts have increased by almost a fifth during lockdown with an estimated 2,438 pets stolen last year. Last month police seized 83 suspected stolen dogs from a traveller site in Ipswich, Suffolk.
