3-2 Hibs – but so sad the Final can’t have fans

-

I’m looking forward to Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final between Hibs and St Johnstone. It has the makings of an absolute cracker.

It was announced that fans would be allowed inside Hampden for this showpiece occasion, which was positive news.

24 hours later, with Covid cases rising in Glasgow, that idea was shelved and now there will be no supporters in attendance.

The original 600 tickets seemed far too light an allocation to me.

At first, the guidance was for 2,000 supporters to be allowed in. To then slash that by around 70% just didn’t sit right.

But the SFA need to go on guidance from the Scottish Government, so now Hampden will be empty for the third Final on the trot.

That’s sad. But as I’ve said before, ultimately the health of the nation is the most-important thing

On the park, there is no doubt that both teams will go all-out for victory.

In Jack Ross and Callum Davidson, we have two managers who like to play entertaining football.

The Saints got to the Final on the back of two excellent victories. To beat Rangers at Ibrox, and then follow it up with a fine win against St Mirren, speaks volumes for they can achieve on their day.

The Perth side is built on a solid foundation of Zander Clark, Jason Kerr, Liam Gordon and Jamie McCart. They also have the flair of David Wotherspoon and Ali McCann.

So they can mix it up, and the big occasion doesn’t scare them.

Hibs stand between the Saints completing a sensational domestic cup Double.

Having clinched third place in the table, the Easter Road men are also on the verge of a brilliant season.

They have quality all over the pitch ,and that’s why I fancy them to win the Cup to follow on from their 2016 success.

Expect plenty of goals, and it could be 3-2 to Jack’s men.
