Mental health jobs call
The Scottish Liberal Democrats have called for action after official figures revealed 14.5% of consultant psychiatrist positions in Scotland are vacant.
Statistics obtained using freedom of information show there are 64 wholetime equivalent posts vacant throughout Scotland, compared to 444 that are in place.
Lib Dem leader Alex ColeHamilton said: “The gaping holes in mental health staffing are incredibly harmful to patients and staff. It is crystal clear that the situation demands immediate action.”
Mental health minister Kevin Stewart said an additional 800 mental health staff have been recruited to frontline roles across Scotland.
