Royal tour after prince’s news

-

The Post’s front page showed the royals touring Britain in August 1958. It was a significant time for them as it had just been announced that Charles was to be made Prince of Wales. Charles was just nine and heard the news on TV.

“At Holyhead, crowds broke through the police cordon to cheer the Prince of Wales,” read the caption. “He was thrown off his balance. Picture shows the Prince and Princess Anne, with Prince Philip, afterwards.”
