Health service strike halts delivery of letters to hospital patients

-

“Hundreds of letters sent to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital last week didn’t reach the patients, it was disclosed last night,” read The Post.

“And a union spokesman admitted there were bound to have been innocent victims in last week’s industrial action in the Health Service. The matter came to light when Mrs Isla Knight, of Gullane, East Lothian, asked a sick friend by telephone yesterday if he had received a letter posted at the beginning of the week. ‘I think it is absolutely appalling. At first I did not think it could possibly be true, but I was told by the person at the hospital that the mail box at the concourse was closed.’”
