Chil Chil can keep up heat

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

Chil Chil has the edge of his rivals on ratings in the listed fillies race at Pontefract, but she needs to recapture top form.

Her chance is best advertised by a third in Haydock’s Group 1 Sprint Cup last September, beaten three-quarters-of-a-length.

The mare has had two quiet runs to blow away the cobwebs of a 10-month break, and is nicely drawn in Box Five.

Maggie’s Delight and Gordon’s Aura are weighted to run a dead heat, after they were second and third to Myboymax at Yarmouth.

Both step up in trip from one mile, six furlongs to two miles, but Maggie’s Delight has more scope for improvement.

The three-year-old is facing only her fifth race in a brief course career, where she has stepped forward with each race.

Roger Varian’s Russet Gold hasn’t been getting home over six furlongs, so a step back to five makes sense.

The Class 4 novice is a drop in grade from the Class 2 event at Goodwood last time, where he blew up 100 metres out.
