Film fans gather from galaxies not so far away

-

Superheroes, arch-villains and animated cartoon characters gathered at a shopping mall yesterday for Film and Comic Con Glasgow.

Chewbacca rubbed shoulders with Captain Marvel, The Mandalorian and the Predator in the Braehead Arena.

Star Wars villain Darth Vader strolled around the shops accompanied by a trio of Imperial stormtroopers, while the Predator was seen tucking into a take-away coffee. Thousands of visitors from across the UK – and some from a galaxy far, far away – have converged on the centre yesterday and today for the popular comic convention.

Fatinah Din, 20, and Sandeela Rayshem, 18, both from Glasgow, managed to get their picture taken with Chewbacca from the Rebel Legion UK group. Braehead Centre Director, Peter Beagley said: “We always look forward to the Film and Comic Con event coming to Braehead. And with lots of fans dressed in amazing costumes, it makes for a fantastic spectacle.”

Visitors also flocked to scores of stalls set up in The Arena to snap up movie memorabilia and sought-after rare comics. Celebrity guests included actors from the Star Wars films, as well as TV fantasy series Game Of Thrones and Vikings.
