Child dies on holiday
A British toddler has died after being hit by a car while on holiday in Ireland.
It is understood that the boy, who was under the age of two, had been staying at a property in County Roscommon with his parents. A resident said the family were visiting the village of Ballinagare, where they had connections.
Irish police said the boy was hit by a Jeep near Ballinagare shortly after 9am on Friday. He received treatment at the scene, but was later pronounced dead.
Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice said: “Members of the local community are shocked and saddened at the death of the toddler. Our sympathies are with the family.”
