Only sing when you’re winning

-

Any karaoke nights I’ve ever been to have been loud, drunken and totally out of tune. So I was intrigued to hear there’s actually a World Karaoke Championship which people take very, very seriously. And the level of talent is mind blowing.

Some contestants, like 25-year-old Rebecca Traynor from Edinburgh, who was representing Scotland, are even classically trained opera singers. She impressed the judges so much she made it through to the final and came in sixth.

It sounds like a brilliantly entertaining competition, and I bet there were no fights for the mike.
