A little understanding can make all the difference

-

The school Natalie’s daughter attends has a spare clothes box. It’s used to provide a change of clothing if a child spills something or has an accident.

Sometimes, the understanding school secretary might encourage a child to keep clothing that might be better than they already have. She told me this after being out with her daughter and a friend.

The two nine-year-olds had been highly entertained by a woman wearing winter clothes on a hot day. A little annoyed, Natalie suggested the woman might only have one set of clothes. The laughter continued.

But, the next morning, her daughter told her that she and her friend wanted to donate clothes to the spare clothes box. “Because, mum,” she said, “we have kids who dress like that at school. We just never knew why.”

Knowing makes the difference!
