Better Call Saul
Netflix
There’s a shot in the finale of Better Call Saul, of two people leaning on a wall, sharing a cigarette.
It looks nicked from a Caravaggio painting or classic film noir but it was also a reference to the first episode, broadcast almost exactly sevenand-a-half years ago, or 90 months. Sounds like a prison sentence, eh?
The series creator,Vince Gilligan, has managed to stick the landing on two classic TV shows in which at times you weren’t just sympathising with the devil, but cheering him on. Producers will be desperate to talk Gilligan into creating their next slice of must-watch TV. Want a hit? Better convince Vince.
