A family member has been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. It sounds very scary but their doctor seems very positive that it can be managed. Should I be worried?
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymph glands and the vessels that go between them. Within that system you have a fluid which contains lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infection. Hodgkin’s lymphoma occurs when the B lymphocytes multiply abnormally, and classic symptoms include painless, swollen lymph nodes, and increased vulnerability to infections. It can affect any age but there are peaks between the age of 20-40 and over the age of 75. It is an aggressive cancer and can spread quite quickly, but it also responds very well to treatment, such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. While the treatment puts great strain on the body, it is certainly a treatable condition, and one that you would hope to cure.
What are threadworms?
Threadworms are little parasites that exist in the gut. They are quite
