£650,000 for Di car

A car used by Diana, Princess of Wales has sold for £650,000 at auction.

The black Ford Escort RS Turbo, driven by Diana between 1985 and 1988, sold to a UK buyer at the Silverstone Auctions sale yesterday.

Diana was pictured with the car outside the boutique shops of Chelsea and the restaurants of Kensington.

The car is believed to be unique as the first and only black RS Turbo Series 1, prepared by Ford to allow the princess to keep a lower profile, instead of the standard white model.
