Celebrities outed for wasting water
Some of California’s wealthiest celebrities have been named and shamed by a water authority for their excessive consumption during a punishing drought.
Sylvester Stallone, Kim Kardashian, the comedian Kevin Hart and the basketball star Dwyane Wade are among more than 2,000 customers given notices of exceedance by Las Virgenes Municipal Water District in southern California.
They could now have flow restrictor devices fitted, limiting water flows to little more than a trickle.
Stallone’s $18 million property, which he owns with his wife, Jennifer Flavin, 54, used about 533% more than its budget in June, according to the Los Angeles Times.
His lawyer said there were more than 500 matures trees on the property but the couple were addressing the problem “responsibly and proactively”.
