It could be Good for Andrew

Unless there is something lurking among the newcomers, Andrew Balding’s Ndaawi should collect in Goodwood’s opening maiden.

The Cracksman colt was third on debut at Newmarket to two Charlie Appleby runners, despite diving left from the stalls.

William Buick riding is a bonus, and after making heavy weather of the final furlong first time up, he’s dropped to seven furlongs today.

ITV 4 screen the Goodwood card, bar the opener, and the ratings in the seller point to William Haggas’s Just A Tad prevailing.

He’s a rare runner in a selling race for the stable, and the yard’s top rider, Tom Marquand, takes over from David Probert.

A winner at Lingfield and Windsor this summer, Just A Tad looks above average in this grade, and the auction will be vigorous.

Sean Woods’ string have been running with credit, and Savvy Victory has been mixing it in Group company this season.

Dropped into a handicap last time, he was just pipped a neck by subsequent winner, Protagonist, and has sound claims again today.
