Sterling’s just two good for the winless Foxes

Raheem Sterling’s first goals for Chelsea gave the 10-man Blues a 2-1 victory over winless Leicester.

Sterling’s second-half double proved decisive at Stamford Bridge as the hosts overcame the loss of manager Thomas Tuchel and England midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Tuchel was serving a touchline ban, while Gallagher was dismissed after being penalised for two yellow card offences on Harvey Barnes.

Sterling broke the deadlock with a shot from the edge of the area, after being found by Marc Cucurella.

They doubled their lead in the 63rd minute when Sterling tapped in Reece James’ cross at the far post, before Barnes beat Edouard Mendy at his near post to pull a goal back.

Brighton stretched their unbeaten streak to a club-record nine games after Pascal Gross’ second-half strike earned a deserved 1-0 win over Leeds.

Albion squandered a host of chances at the Amex Stadium before Gross coolly claimed his third goal of the season in the 66th minute.

Leeds were second best for much of the match during which manager Jesse Marsch was shown a second-half yellow card following persistent petulant touchline behaviour. Asked if the caution was merited, Marsch said: “Yeah, absolutely. I thought my behaviour deserved the yellow card.”

Opposite number Graham Potter said: “I think we deserved the win.”

Anthony Gordon gave Chelsea a timely nudge with a fine strike as Everton drew 1-1 at Brentford.

The 21-year-old winger shrugged off the noise surrounding a potential switch to Stamford Bridge with a well-taken first goal of the season.

However Brentford, who had hit the woodwork three times, equalised through Vitaly Janelt six minutes from time.

“It’s what I wanted from him,” said Lampard of Gordon. “It was a great run, great timing and a great pass, and his composure was great.

“There’s pressure on him and I thought he handled it brilliantly.”

Frustrated Bees boss Thomas Frank added: ““It’s a game we should win nine out of 10 times.”

Gabriel Magalhaes went from zero to hero as he atoned for gifting Fulham the lead by scoring the winning goal Arsenal’s 2-1 success.

The Brazil defender was badly caught out by Aleksandar Mitrovic as the Gunners came from behind to win 2-1 and retain their place at the top of the table.

Martin Odegaard levelled, before Gabriel won it at the death.
