A Farm Through Time
Channel 5, Thursday, 9pm
The last in this living-history series finds Ruth Goodman taking farming brothers Rob and Dave Nicholson back in time further than ever before.
This week they’ll be sowing and growing in the Iron Age.They find that one of the biggest and most revolutionary developments in farming tech took place 2,000 years ago in the UK, with the advent of iron tools and equipment after ancient Britons first began extracting meaningful quantities of the valuable metal in 750BC.
Then, by 43AD, Romans had arrived in the British Isles, bringing with them more than 100 new foods and crops.
