Days That Shook The BBC With David Dimbleby
BBC2, Tuesday, 9pm
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the BBC – it launched its first radio station back in 1922. For many people, that’s a cause for celebration, but it’s also led to questions about the future of the corporation. However, as David Dimbleby points out in this new series, this is far from the first time the Beeb has been under scrutiny.
His three-part series looks at how “Auntie”, as it is affectionately known, has become a lightning rod for all of Britain’s frustrations and injustices, as well as its success stories and celebrations. As well as sharing his own memories, he speaks to current and former BBC staff members, including Emily Maitlis.
