Maya be worth it

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

Michael Dods has sent out a fair share of 2022 winners from his County Durham yard, and Gale Force Maya can be another.

The six-year-old has been in consistent form all summer, and York’s six furlongs Listed event offers optimum race conditions.

Last time at Pontefract, the threeyear-old, Princess Shabnam, nicked the race from the front. But the selection had some useful types behind.

Three-year-old, Samuel Spade, is lightly-raced, and is taken to step up in grade from his cosy success at Haydock.

That was over today’s trip and, after only seven previous races, there should be more to come from David O’Meara’s runner.

The 6lb weight for age allowance is a major assistance at this time of year, and Samuel Spade is a February foal.

Milton Harris’s Technological doesn’t have to find much to be involved in the finish of Fontwell’s Class 3 handicap hurdle.

He was beaten just a neck over course and distance 17 days ago after a break, and may step forward a few pounds.
