Garden of the week
The Japanese Garden at Cowden near Dollar has always impressed with its tranquil atmosphere.
Created at the start of the 20th Century by the explorer Ella Christie, it is one of the very few authentic eastern gardens outside of Japan and it relies on water, stone and foliage to instil a feeling of calm. The seven acre garden has lakes, pavilions, lanterns and tea houses and paths leading through the woodland allow the garden to be enjoyed for many different vantage points.
