The Marvel Cinematic Universe was little more than a twinkle in creator Stan Lee’s eye in 2001 when Scarlett Johansson made her comic-book adaptation debut in Ghost World, based on Daniel Clowes’ graphic novels. The Black Widow actress and Thora Birch played offbeat teenage friends. “Most teenage parts don’t have any depth,” said Johansson, pinpointing the movie’s cult appeal. “The characters in Ghost World were awesome.”
