We wanted to make sure we were in control of our own destiny

- Andrew and Margaret Brown Glasgow

Peace of mind is a valuable commodity. Knowing your affairs are in order and that the future holds no surprises which could jeopardise your assets is something we would all treasure.

It was eliminating those concerns for both themselves and their two adult children which led Andrew and Margaret Brown to seek out ILAWS help in drawing up a Will, Power of Attorney (POA) and Protected Property Trust. Mr Brown, 64, says: “The age my wife and I are at, we’ve got the house and the two kids so we didn’t want the house to end up being used to look after us in our old age.”

An online search led them to ILAWS and from there the process was in Mrs Brown’s own words “seamless”.

She says: “It was really good. From the initial point of filling out a form online we then got a name of a person who came to the house to discuss our requirements. It was an easy process from there. They kept us informed the whole time and we’re now at the stage where everything they could possibly do has been done and we now have to wait for the Public Guardians Office to sort out the POA. The same for the Protection of Property. We just need to wait for the legal department to handle that. It’s been seamless and not stressful at all.”

So with all that in place, the Browns now have that much envied certainty about their future. Mrs Brown continues: “Absolutely it’s given us peace of mind. The wills are done so if anything happens the kids know exactly what’s happening, same with the Power Of Attorney. That was a concern because we wanted to make sure we were in control of our destiny. We know each other’s wishes and we’ve made sure our children know our wishes, so if anything were to happen there’s no questions and they won’t have to make any guesses. They know exactly what we want and they’ll be in a position to abide by what we’re looking for.”

With all that in mind, they would have no hesitation in recommending ILAWS’ services. Mrs Brown says: “They were great. There was no jargon. Any questions we had they responded layman’s terms that we understood. They were clear on exactly what they were going to do and how they were going to achieve the end result that we were looking for. For our children we just wanted to ensure there was as little stress as possible if and when the times comes.”
