It’s set up for New London

New London seems to have all the bases covered for the rearranged St Leger at Doncaster.

At the conclusion of his second season, the Dubai colt has only been to the racecourse five times before the season’s final Classic.

He would need to be much better than in Goodwood’s Group 3 Gordon Stakes, when beating Deauville Legend.

That runner-up went on to win York’s Group 2 Great Voltigeur for James Ferguson, so the form looks rock-solid.

In the Park Stakes, Kinross seeks to maintain recent progress. Most experts believe that racehorses develop physically until the age of five, and that seems the case with Ralph Becket’s gelding.

He was not extended to defeat Charlie Hills’ Pogo on the Knavesmire in a Group 2, and the born-again Frankie Dettori keeps the ride.

The Portland Handicap is one of the flat season’s biggest puzzles, and Makanah might be able to make up for an unlucky run at York. Finishing like a train behind Bergerac, he got stopped in his run a furlong out.
