Broch blow a two-goal lead as Brora fight back

-

FRASERBURGH 2 BRORA RANGERS 2 Champions Fraserburgh lost more ground in the title race after surrendering a two-goal lead.

In 19 minutes, Connor Wood opened the scoring with a right-foot shot into the top corner and, right on half-time, the lead was doubled when Scott Barbour fired in a 25-yard free-kick.

Max Ewan reduced the leeway for the Cattachs early in the second half before Sean Butcher, of the home side, was sent off for an illegal challenge.

In 81 minutes, Andrew MacRae made it 2-2 with a header to earn a point.

BANKS O’ DEE 2 FORRES MECHANICS 0

After a goalless first half, Dee went ahead in 52 minutes through Marc Young with a powerful header from a cross by substitute Magnus Watson.

In 77 minutes another sub Jack Henderson made a great impact by netting the second, sliding his shot under the body of Robbie Donaldson after a great deep cross from Lachie MacLeod.

While the Mechanics battled away to get back into the game, this was another performance of note from the Aberdeen side.

They remain undefeated at home since joining the Highland League, and the win would have been more emphatic had it not been for some vital saves from Donaldson

Once again, the clever use of substitutes by Jamie Watt came up trumps.

LOSSIEMOUTH 1 HUNTLY 4

After a goalless first half, a mishit from Logan Ross saw Lyall Booth quick to react to tap in on the 54th minute.

Ten minutes later, Huntly doubled the lead through a own goal when Ryan O’Halloran prodded back past his own goalkeeper.

A Huntly penalty on 82 minutes by Cameron Blacklock was hit high into the

net and, soon after, sub Andy Hunter slotted in from inside the box.

Lossie pulled one back through a Dean Stewart penalty just prior to time-up.

CLACHNACUDDIN 1 FORMARTINE UTD 3

Shaun Sutherland put the Lilywhites ahead, but, just on half-time, Formartine’s star striker Julian Wade levelled.

Recently-signed Bulgarian midfielder Danail Dimov put the visitors ahead in 81 minutes with a deflected strike, and Scott Lisle added a third right on full-time.

STRATHSPEY THISTLE 2 INVERURIE LOCOS 2

Fergus Alberts put Locos ahead in 16 minutes as Richard Hastings’ side looked to atone for their Scottish Cup exit.

However, they failed to add to that lead in the first half and the bottom side gained hope in 59 minutes when left midfielder Jack Davidson was allowed to run across the 18-yard line to score.

It got even better for the homesters when Locos failed to deal with a cross, letting in Josh Taylor to net.

A visiting penalty claim was denied

before Robert Ward saved blushes by equalising from close range.

TURRIFF 5 DEVERONVALE 1

Reece McKeown put Turriff ahead in 13 minutes in a rip-roaring start where there could have been goals galore.

With Vale protesting a foul, Aaron Reid played on and scored a second before Jayden Bradford pulled one back.

Ewan Clark then had a penalty saved before Reid got his second with a header from a good cross. Ewan Clark scored No. 4 just before the hour and completed his hat-trick on 90th minute.

WICK ACADEMY 1 ROTHES 1

Ryan Campbell put the Scorries ahead in 40 minutes. However, late in the second half, Ryan McRitchie popped up to level for the visitors.

Not a bad result for the Scorries after their excellent Scottish Cup win over Lochee Utd last weekend earned them another home tie against Benburb. They sit in ninth place .

For Ross Jack, a decent away point as his injury-hit side gradually battles back from a disappointing start to the season.

Twelfth place at present, but better likely to come when key players return.
