Neighbours share £3m lottery win

More than 100 neighbours are celebrating after scooping a combined £3.2 million with People’s Postcode Lottery.

Their postcode sector, AB24 1, was revealed as a winner of the lottery’s Postcode Millions prize.

Each of the successful entrants in the Aberdeen community scooped at least a five-figure sum while two neighbours netted even larger prizes thanks to playing with the full winning postcode – AB24 1XX.

Alexander Hardingham was stunned to be told he’d won £763,648. The 83-year-old played with two tickets with the full winning postcode, landing him the six-figure windfall.

He said: “I can’t believe it. I thought I was just getting £5,000, as £5,000 would still be a lot to me but this feels like a fairy tale, just like the movies.”

Tilly Adams, 70, also played with the full winning postcode and netted £366,824. The great-grandmother joked she would spend the winnings quickly. She said: “The money is going to go into my bank account soon, but it will go out quicker!”
