Do you ever have such a bad day at the office that you just want to forget all about it?

Well, the workers in Apple TV’s psychological sci-fi thriller series are afforded the luxury of just that. The show follows Mark (Adam Scott), who heads up a team at Lumon, a company that surgically divides the memories of employees between their work and personal lives.

In the first episode, we see Mark crying in his car before he heads into the office.

As he ascends in the lift, leaving his own life behind, we see a change in his demeanor before he exits into a series of white corridors to begin an eighthour day that he won’t remember when he leaves.

He meets new recruit

Helly on her first shift in the lifeless corporate cubicles and we soon begin to understand why Mark chose this job.

Until a few years ago, he was a happily married college professor, but chose severance at the tech firm after the death of his wife. Now, he spends his days sifting through data in a bid to forget about his lonely outside life.

Helly rebels against her new work self and tries to leave, but soon realises there’s no way out.

It’s an odd, slightly bizarre watch, but it’s this outlandish thread that keeps you hooked.

And it turns out what we would consider a bad day at the office is really nothing in comparison!
