Garden of the week
Scone Palace near Perth is the ancient coronation site of Scotland’s kings.
It is also home to a fine collection of soaring trees, including the first Douglas Fir to be grown from a seed, sent home to Scone by plant hunter David Douglas himself. The
Murray Star maze, made up of green and bronze beech hedges, is a striking feature and the last of the season’s flowers are still blooming in the walled garden.
