How can you alleviate menopause hot flushes without HRT?

Dressing in light fabrics or layers can help, likewise layering bedlinen and blankets rather than using one heavy duvet. A fan can be useful, on your desk at work or in your bedroom. You can carry a small spray bottle of water. Take a warm shower rather than a hot shower. A healthy lifestyle is also important, so exercise regularly, and avoid smoking, drink sensibly and follow a healthy diet.

What causes pins and needles?

Usually pressure cutting off the blood supply to the nerves. If you lean on a nerve, it gets pinched and causes pins and needles. Getting rid of the pressure will alleviate it. Pressure can also be due to a slipped disc or carpal tunnel syndrome. Diabetes can damage small blood vessels which take oxygen to the nerves in the hands and feet, sometimes leading to pins and needles. It can also be due to by stress, as hyperventi­lating means that you blow off too much carbon dioxide which can upsets the nerves.
