Winner’s recipe for oat cuisine
A competitor has scooped the World Porridge Making Championship title for the second time.
Lisa Williams, 51, from Felixstowe in Suffolk, claimed the golden spurtle in the 29th year of the competition, which is held in Carrbridge in the Highlands every year.
The title is awarded to the contestant deemed to have made the best traditional porridge using just three ingredients – oatmeal, water and salt.
Williams, who runs a social enterprise, said: “Using a mixture of pinhead and regular oatmeal and good sea salt is the winning formula. I’ve learned to cook it low and slow and with a good amount of salt.”
