Show them that you scare

What is the point of horror films? Is there not enough horror in the world already without the movie-making industry contributing its tuppence worth?

I should have thought about that a bit deeper before I went to see the supernatural blockbuster film Smile the other day with my daughter.

We were running late so missed the first 20 minutes, but frankly I wish we had missed more. I don’t know what was more terrifying – the price of the tickets, the price of the popcorn or the creepy guy two rows in front who kept turning round to, yes, smile at us.

But anyway, at least now I understand the point of these movies. What a laugh we had as we screeched and screamed and clutched on to each other through the jump scares.

It’s all about bonding with your loved ones. Now I get it.
