Location
A short walk from the city centre, about half way down Leith Walk. The wood cladding and bright blue paintwork make it stand out.
First impressions
Bright, well decorated, and buzzing with a friendly vibe. We felt instantly relaxed – the perfect spot for a laid-back Sunday afternoon.
Service
Our two servers were attentive, helpful and never without a smile. Drinks arrived promptly, followed by a short wait for the food, but it all arrived hot and in plentiful portions. First-rate.
Menu
Promising “proper Scottish scran” the menu had something for everyone in our party of six adults and one child. Boasting the likes of burgers and fish and chips, chicken wings and nachos, the cuisine is varied. There’s a separate kids menu, and wee ones eat free on Sundays.
Taste
After a few drinks (the homemade pineapple and lime soda is a must-try!), we opted to start with small bites to share, including veggie haggis tacos, cherry cola BBQ cauliflower wings, and vegan nachos. All were delicious, but our mains were the star of the show. As well as two burgers (one vegan, one topped with brisket) and two portions of fish and chips, one of our party chose the beef topside roast – and made us all jealous. Perfectly cooked and served with lashings of veg and gravy, their plate was almost licked clean! Quality ingredients and extra flair elevate what could otherwise be standard pub food. Truly tasty.
Ambience
Busy with families and football fans alike, it’s a popular spot with a relaxed atmosphere.
Price
With a free kids meal, our bill came to £179, including two bottles of wine. We’ll be back!
