Frozen Planet II
BBC1, today, 8pm
The penultimate episode focuses on the snow-covered forests and open tundra of the far north, a place with temperatures so low, much of the ground has remained frozen since the last ice age.
Arctic foxes roam for miles in search of their main food source, tiny lemmings which are hidden deep underground.
Meanwhile, snowy owls capitalise on 24 hours of sunlight to go hunting and, as the spring brings slightly warmer weather, painted turtle hatchlings emerge from hibernation.
