Midge count at record low

-

Scotland’s midge season has ended with record low numbers of the biting beastie.

The infamous insect usually appears in two hatchings and thrives in wet and warm conditions. But it struggled to survive due to the dry weather in July and August.

Midge expert Dr Alison Blackwell said: “These were the lowest numbers we have recorded in 12 years.”
