Do you know what I really detest? This

£25 STAR LETTER

-

I don’t care if politicians are right or wrong as long as they don’t treat us as if our heads button up the back.

I don’t think Nicola Sturgeon should have said she “detests the Tories and all they stand for” and probably she doesn’t either. It

sounded a bit shouty and over-the-top for a first minister. It’s up to her though.

What I really can’t be doing with is her, John Swinney and all the rest rushing to the microphones to insist she was talking about policies not individuals and that suggesting otherwise was deliberately misquoting her. It was pathetic.

Whether she was talking about the UK Government, ministers, MPs, MSPs, party members or voters, she was talking about Tories. If she was talking about policies she would have used the word. Apologise or don’t, I don’t care, but don’t try to rewrite history when it only happened on Sunday morning.

Ukraine forever

I was thrilled to hear Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko praise Scotland for its humanitarian aid for her country (Sunday Post last week).

Scotland and Ukraine already have close links and share many cultural identities, so welcoming refugees will only help build closer relationships.

As helping those in need enhances our own humanity, Scotland will reap the benefits of its support for Ukraine for generations to come.

Pension disgrace

When people talk about us having to work till we are 68 they should be clear this is only the private sector pensions. The public sector will still be able to retire in their 50s with a lump sum and gold-plated pensions.

Some earn more retired than when they were working. It’s a disgrace that this two-tier system is still allowed to continue.

Mary’s marvels

I really enjoyed your articles about the work of Mary’s Meals. I have been raising money for many years for this wonderful charity.

If you are looking for a Christmas or birthday present for that person who has everything, why not buy them a Mary’s Meals gift card. This costs £15.90 and feeds a child for a whole school year, much better than another pack of socks.

A catnapping?

As a reader of The Post since childhood, the Fun Section is still the first thing I turn to.

Now 57, I’ve never grown out of Oor Wullie and the Broons – and more recently Wee Harry and the PC Murdoch Mysteries. I now have a mystery of my own and hope PC Murdoch can help. I’ve noticed in his weekly adventurers, there’s usually a cat somewhere or other and as a cat lover and owner, I make it my mission to find it. However, for the past two weeks, no cat.

Please can Sergeant Cramond put PC Murdoch on the case immediately? I don’t think there’s a better man for the job!
