Thomas Edison filed a patent 134 years ago for the Optical Phonograph – the first movie.

The American inventor’s first phonograph was recorded on tinfoil around a grooved cylinder. Despite its limited sound quality and that the recordings could be played only a few times, the phonograph made Edison a celebrity.
