Protecting our home gave us real peace of mind

- Leonard Bell and Morag Dunlop Bell, Paisley

Family is everything and securing the financial future of your children is a priority for many.

That was exactly what was on the mind of Leonard and Morag Bell when they approached ILAWS. As they moved into old age and with a home they wanted secured for their two daughters, they decided it was time to put in place the necessary legal measures.

Leonard and Morag took out a Protected Property Trust. The Trust (or PPT) allows a current occupant to continue living in the property, while protecting the capital value for the benefit of others. It meant Leonard and Morag didn’t have to worry about losing the home if something happened to one of them.

Add to that a Will and Power of Attorney to ensure decisions would still be made, no matter the circumstances, and the Bells had achieved that much soughtafter peace of mind. Explaining their approach to ILAWS, Leonard says: “We saw an advert in the paper and that’s what prompted us. Both of us are getting on in years and we wanted the house protected for our two daughters.”

Once contacted, ILAWS then sent out a representative to their home in Paisley. She went through everything in detail, making sure they understood exactly what they were asking for. After that the process was simple.

Leonard adds: “Then they sent the documents out to us for signing. It was very clear and professional. It all took about six months and it was a simple process.”

The quality of service from ILAWS was also evident in any external hitches along the way. “We had a problem with the bank and they sorted it out straight away,” says Leonard.

Now everything is complete and the Bells are able to relax, knowing their own and their children’s futures are secure.

Leonard adds: “It’s given us peace of mind. That’s what we needed.”

And would he recommend ILAWS to others in his situation? “Absolutely! They’re very professional and clearly know what they’re doing.”
